Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Friday met PAT Chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri and Chaudhry brothers in a bid to step up efforts to dislodge the sitting PML-N government. During the meetings, Sheikh Rashid exchanged views on current political situation.
During his meeting with Qadri, AML head urged PAT Chief to form an alliance with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to get rid of PML-N's government. On the other hand, Chaudhry brothers want a grand alliance of opposition parties against the present government. After the meetings, Sheikh Rashid told newsmen at a press conference that the government, which sacrificed Rana Sanaullah, can also sacrifice Khwaja Saad Rafique and Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, if needed. However, he said, the nation requires a big sacrifice.
Referring to Imran Khan's long march on Independence Day this year, Sheikh Rashid said the nation would join Imran Khan at D-Chowk on August 14. He warned the government to refrain from creating hurdles in long march otherwise situation would get out of control. He said Punjab police may not be deputed on August 14 in the wake of Model Town incident. He said the government would go home, if it tries to commit follies.
Rashid said that May 2013 general elections were fraud and the consequent government did not enjoy any legitimacy. He urged the nation to come out of their houses on August 14 and join hands to rid Pakistan of the fraudulent government. He also said that he will be attending MQM rally. He urged all the opposition parties to form a joint alliance against the government and set their petty political differences aside if they wanted to achieve the common objective.
To a query, he said, if political leadership continue to show courage and determination, there will be big sacrifice by Eid-ul-Azha. When asked about differences of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan with the PML-N leadership, he said Nisar should resign from his office. To a question, he said that was making efforts to bring Dr Tahirul Qadri and Imran Khan together for a common objective.
On the other hand, Punjab Law Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has said that there is a need of unity against terrorism, therefore, Maulana and Sheikh Rashid should realise the gravity of the situation. He said nation wants the country should be put on the road to progress and prosperity but jugglers do not want its development. He said that the country is passing through a critical juncture but these jugglers are creating uncertainty in the country. Khan stressed upon all political forces to be united on one platform for fighting against terrorism.
