Punjab Minister for Labour and Manpower Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has said that the Punjab govt had taken concrete steps for discouraging the profiteering during Ramazan and various arrangements had been made for providing the food items on specially reduced prices to the consumers.
He stated this while inspecting the Ramazan Bazaars at Chak Jhumra and Khurrianwala. MPAs Azad Ali Tabassum, Haji Khalid Saeed, Rana Shoaib Idrees, Chairman District Zakat Committee Nazir Hussain Bajwa, General Secretary PML (N) Mian Qasim Farooq and other party workers were also present on the occasion.
The Minister took a round of Ramazan Bazaars and checked the prices, quality and quantity of different food items. He said that quality commodities should be provided in the Ramazan Bazaars and duty staff should all times be mobilised to check the quality of the vegetables, fruits and grocery items on the stalls. He also visited complaint cells and check the record of complaint register. He expressed his dis-satisfaction over the procedure of recording the complaints and directed that complaint box should be placed alongwith availability of paper and pencil for writing the complaint. He said that this complaint box would only be opened by the Assistant Commissioners and he would take immediate action on the complaint for making the Ramazan Bazaars more improved and efficient. The Minister checked the weight inspection tools at labour department stalls and verified weights of different packets of food items through electronic weights scale. He appreciated the arrangements of Ramazan Bazaars and said that these efforts should be continued so as there was a room of improvement for providing every possible relief to the public. Assistant Commissioner Chak Jhumra Qaisar Abbas Rind and Assistant Commissioner Jaranwala Zaheer Anwar Jappa informed the Minister about the supply mechanism of essential commodities in Ramazan Bazaars and said that regular monitoring had been ensured to maintain the entire arrangements of the convenience of the consumers.
