Punjab University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mujahid Kamran on Friday chaired a meeting of all deans and heads of departments to review arrangements for helping internally displaced people (IDPs) of North Waziristan. On this occasion, the meeting decided to deposit one-day salary of all faculty members and grade 16 and above officers to Chief Minister's relief fund for IDPs.
Moreover, sufficient amount will also be deposited to CM's relief fund from self-supporting funds of various PU departments. Addressing the meeting, the Vice Chancellor said that as per tradition, Punjab University administration would help North Waziristan IDPs as it made tremendous efforts to help Swat IDPs and set up exemplary medical camp at Swabi. He said that PU administration had also set up Emergency Relief Fund to cope with such problems and helped flood victims.
On this occasion, it was decided to set up volunteer teams of students to gather funds, relief goods, medicines etc for IDPs. The meeting also authorised heads of departments that if they find it suitable, they can sell tickets in favour of IDPs to candidates at the time of admission in Punjab University.
