Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday issued a notice to top officials of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) for disobeying its earlier order that restrained them from taking any coercive action against a cellular company in pursuance of a notice for payment of a fee for installing and maintaining mobile phone towers in DHA. A division bench headed by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar was seized with the contempt of court application filed by Warid Telecom.
The counsel for applicant cellular company submitted that high court had issued an interim order, restraining DHA from taking any adverse action against cellular company in respect of its notice for the payment of a NOC fee for installing Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) throughout the DHA.
Despite court's restraining order, the 'contemnors' were forcing cellular company to pay the NoC fee and had threatened to stop the its cellular service from DHA in case of non-payment of charges, the counsel said, adding that if the service of company was stopped in DHA it would cause a huge financial loss to the company. Besides, it would put subscribers to a considerable inconvenience.
