It's in every smartphone user's interest to keep their gadget free of dirt and germs. To clean the most visible dirt from the display and housing, use a soft toothbrush, recommends German telecommunications portal Teltarif.de. It can also be used to clean out the ports for the charging cable and headphones.
Use compressed air to clean your loudspeaker and microphone, as well as the seams of the housing. But be sure to hold the spray can a bit away from the phone, to make sure dirt is blown away, not deeper into the phone's crevices.
Depending on how dirty they are, the display glass and the surface can be cleaned with a mild disinfectant, glass cleaner or a soft household towel. Do the final clean with a microfibre cloth. But steer clear of harsh cleansers, which can damage the phone's housing and make a touch-screen unusable.
