The Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) marketing companies have increased the price of the commodity by Rs 15 per kg within a short span of time. All Pakistan LPG Distributors Association Chairman Irfan Khokar said the increase in LPG prices was unjustified as the government producers and suppliers such as Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), Pakistan State Oil (PSO), Pak Arab Refinery Company (PARCO) and Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) did not increase the price of LPG.
After the two-time increase in the commodity prices by the marketing companies the price of domestic cylinder has been increased by Rs 180 and commercial cylinder Rs 675, he added. He said the new price of LPG in Karachi has reached Rs 105 per kg against Rs 90 per kg on July 6 and domestic cylinder of 12kg is available Rs 1210. He said the LPG will be sold in Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujraat, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Hyderabad and Sheikhupura at Rs 115 per kg and domestic cylinder at Rs 1330.
He added that LPG price will in Mirpur, Multan, Bhawalpur, DG Khan, Peshawar, Kohat and Bannu at Rs 120 per kg and domestic cylinder at Rs 1390. He said in Rawalpindi and Islamabad the LPG will be sold at 135 per kg with domestic cylinder at Rs 1570. He said that new price of LPG in Murree, Muzaffarabad and Fata is Rs 145 per kg and domestic cylinder is available at Rs 1690. The association has convened a meeting on July 9 to discuss issues to prevent LPG black marketing.
