As many as 12,700 out of 22,000 federal government employees, registered with the Ministry of Housing and Works, in first phase would get plots, flats and houses in Bhara Kahu, ground plus 14 storey apartments building (Life style residency) in G-13 and F-14 schemes.
Talking to APP, a Federal Government Employees Housing Federation official said that about 22,000 employees got their registration under the government's scheme to provide houses to government servants since 2009. He said that the membership drive was initiated with the prime objective to provide housing units to government employees under government's ambitious plan to overcome housing backlog hitting hard to a significant number of employees for the last several years. He said that under the scheme, every registered employee would get an opportunity to have a house in the Federal Capital, which has so far remained an elusive dream for many.
Giving break-ups, he said that around 3500 employees would get plots in Bhara Kahu, 2200 employees to get apartments in G-13 and 7000 employees would get possession of their plots in F-14. About mechanism of ownership, he said all the newly constructed residences would be disposed of accordingly on the basis of submitted lists and the aspirants would be accommodated on updated lists.
Different categories of residences would be handed over to registered employees accordingly, and no one would be left out to avail this opportunity. The membership drive was started in 2009 for all federal employees, officials from autonomous/ semi autonomous bodies. FGEHF offered an open opportunity to employees to get them registered for all future housing schemes once and for all and the seniority is determined on first come first serve basis.
