High-power transmitters of Radio Pakistan will become operational in different cities including Dera Ismail Khan, Hyderabad and Faqirabad in August, said a PBC spokesman here on Tuesday. Talking to Agency, Mehmood Riaz uddin said the organisation had launched a gigantic programme to replace the old transmitters with ultramodern digital transmitters and one 400-kilowatt transmitter had already been inaugurated in Peshawar last month.
That transmitter, he maintained, besides added voice quality, had an outreach up to Bajaur Agency, Kurram Agency, Khyber Agency, Mohmand Agency, Orakzai Agency, Malakand Agency, Upper Dir, Lower Dir (Chakdara), Buner, Hangu, Mardan, Shangla (Swat), Swabi, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Garam Chashma (Chitral), Azad Kashmir, parts of Hunza, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and up to Kunar and Nangarhar provinces of Afghanistan.
He said for the first time in the 67 years history, a standard operating procedure [SOP] had been prepared and implemented in the CNO streamlining the functioning of the organisation. The spokesman said Radio Pakistan's music programmes were being improved and the tradition of radio drama was also revived.
