Glowing tributes were paid to Madar-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, as her 47th death anniversary was observed with due reverence on Wednesday. Social, political and cultural organisations arranged seminars and functions to pay homage to Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah for her contributions to the cause of Pakistan.
Speakers in the functions said that Madar-e-Millat had played a vital role along with her brother, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, for the creation of Pakistan. She was an active member and dedicated worker of Pakistan movement and had played a leading role in that movement. Mohtarma Jinnah particularly motivated the women of the sub-continent and activated them in the struggle for the creation of Pakistan. According to reports, a number of people from various walks of life visited her Mazar to offer Fateha and lay floral wreaths there.
In Lahore, PML Women's wing Punjab arranged a function which was addressed by Khadija Umer Farooqi, Kanwal Naseem, Amna Ulfat, Samia Tariq, Nighat Agha, Shabnum Chaudhry and others. Paying homage to Madar-e-Millat, the speakers said Madar-e-Millat remained steadfast in her determination to forge national unity and cohesion, and agreed that she was a symbol of democracy, liberation and courage.
Khadija Umer Farooqi said Fatima Jinnah was the embodiment of how a woman could play her due role subjected to whatsoever conditions. She said her life was a beacon of light for Pakistani women. Other speakers highlighted services of Fatima Jinnah for democracy and country.
