A delegation led by the former vice-chancellor of Sindh University Mazharul Haq Siddiqui on Wednesday visited Sindh University and met Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Abida Taherani at her office. The delegation felicitated her upon resuming charge as vice chancellor of the Alma Mater.
The meeting decided to organise a function at Sindh University in context with the 100th birth celebrations of Muhammad Ibrahim Joyo in a bid to pay him a tribute in recognition to his services rendered for the progress of Sindh, Sindhi Language & literature. Dr Taherani on the occasion announced to publish two books of Joyo. Talking to the vice chancellor Professor Dr Abida Taherani, Mazhar ul Haq Siddiqui said that Muhammad Ibrahim Joyo was benefactor of Sindh and Sindhi nation who led his entire life struggling for the development and progress of the province, literature and Sindhi language.
"We therefore want to hold joint celebrations of the 100th birthday of Joyo with the University of Sindh, despite that of separate functions," he maintained. He unearthed that a mega event regarding the birth celebrations of Muhammad Ibrahim Joyo had been scheduled to organise in Karachi on August 13, 2014. Siddiqui called for publishing two books of Muhammad Ibrahim Joyo through Institute of Sindhology.
On the occasion vice chancellor Dr Abida Taherani announced to organise a mega event with regard to celebrating the 100th birthday of Muhammad Ibrahim Joyo on Allama I I Kazi campus of the varsity. She said that the two proposed books of Joyo will be published on the expenses of Sindh University; one from Institute of Sindhology and other from Pakistan study Centre.
Dr Taherani proposed in the meeting to launch a website in the name of a veteran writer so that his write-ups and other literature may be posted there in an attempt to make youths familiar with the work done by him. She told the delegation that the law and order had been ameliorated on the campus and everything was running smoothly and efficiently in the university. Among others registrar Ghulam Muhammad Bhutto, scholar Mazhar Jamil, President Anjuman Taraqi Pasand Musnafeen Muslim Shamim, Saleem Memon and Dr Arfana Mallah were present in the meeting.
