Ronaldo joins Portugal for FIFA World Cup campaign
As Portugal look forward for FIFA World Cup 2018, Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo has joined the national squad for the first time after lifting Champions League trophy with Real Madrid.
The talisman took part in training on Monday afternoon having enjoyed some time off the game in the past week. The 33-year-old will now gear up for his fourth World Cup finals appearance, as he looks to win the tournament that has eluded him on his last three attempts.
Ronaldo appeared in high spirits following his short vacation away with loved ones and will be looking ahead to Portugal's final friendly with Algeria in Lisbon before jetting off to Russia.
During his break away, Ronaldo also got swept up in the French Open fever and took the opportunity to brush up on his tennis skills by playing with his friend Miguel Paixao.
He was granted permission to take a short holiday instead of hooking up with his Portugal team-mates after helping Madrid win their third consecutive Champions League against Liverpool.
It meant that Ronaldo missed Portugal's two friendlies this week ahead of this summer's World Cup.
They first drew with Tunisia in Braga before travelling to Belgium and holding out for a goalless stalemate.
