Russian wheat was offered lowest at $308.58 a tonne c&f free out (ciffo) in the tender from Iraq's state grains board to buy at least 50,000 tonnes of hard wheat which closed this week, European traders said on Tuesday. The tender sought hard wheat from the United States, Canada, Australia, Ukraine or Russia and closed on Monday with offers remaining valid up to July 18, traders said.
No purchase has yet been made, traders said. The lowest Russian offer was made for 50,000 tonnes. Another 100,000 tonnes of Russian wheat was offered at $316.83 a tonne ciffo, traders said. Ukrainian wheat was offered at $311.15 a tonne c&f with the precise terms unclear. The lowest offer of US wheat was $362.96 a tonne ciffo. The lowest Australian wheat offer was $343.00 a tonne ciffo and lowest Canadian offer was $324.59 a tonne ciffo, traders said.
Shipment is sought between September 1-30 with delivery October 1 to November 14. Iraq is one of the world's largest importers of wheat, much of which goes to supply a national food ration programme. Iraq bought 150,000 tonnes of hard wheat from Russia in its last reported tender on May 21 after also seeking offers for at least 50,000 tonnes.
