Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday held a consultative meeting with key party leaders and cabinet members to discuss the prevailing political situation in the country especially in view of August 14 'long march' announced by Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI), the operation Zarb-e-Azb and issues regarding the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Sources said the meeting continued for about more than two hours and deliberated in detail all the issues to finalise a strategy with regard to its planned Independence Day celebrations. The meeting also discussed former President Asif Ali Zardari's statement through which he criticised Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Sources said the meeting devised a strategy regarding maintaining law and order situation on the day of PTI's planned 'long march'.
Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Mohmmad Asif, Minister for Railway Khawaja Saad Rafique, Minister for SAFRON Lieutenant General Abdul Qadir Baloch (Retd), senior party leader Raja Zafural Haq, Advisor to Prime Minister Irfan Siddiqui and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sahrif.
Sources said Baloch briefed the Prime Minister about the latest situation of IDPs. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar assured the Prime Minister that the Ministry would provide adequate financial assistance for the settlement of IDPs. The Prime Minister said that all resources would be utilised for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the IDPs. They said that the ongoing military operation would continue till elimination terrorists from the country.
About the Independence Day arrangements, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan briefed the Prime Minister regarding security arrangements in Islamabad. The sources said the party leaders were asked to bring maximum people from their constituencies to Islamabad for celebrations of Pakistan's Independence Day. The meeting also discussed the worsening load-shedding problem and reportedly directed concerned Ministries to take all possible measures to ensure minimum load-shedding in the country especially during the remaining days of holy month.
