Federal Government consented to approve Sindh government's proposed Fayyaz Leghari as coming Inspector General of Police, Sindh, with which the issue of appointment of Sindh's IG, which had become a bone of contention, is resolved. It would be as late as Friday (today) or Saturday that Sindh Home Department would issue an official notification for the appointment of Leghari as new IG Police.
Leghari had for a couple of tenures served Sindh Police as the Chief and Sindh government had shown stern resistance over appointment of any Police officer proposed by Federal Government. Sindh government recently removed Iqbal Mehmood and posted Ghulam Haider Jamali as the acting IG Police.
Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in a meeting in recent days at Sindh Governor House in Karachi discussed the removal of Iqbal Mehmood with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and stated that now Federal Government would consult Sindh government for the appointment of new IG Police for Sindh.
