The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday barred Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar, Secretary Finance Dr Waqar Masood and Farah Ayub Tarin, Controller General of Accounts (CGA), from interfering in the administrative functions and constitutional powers of the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP).
A single-member bench of Justice Noor-ul-Haq N. Qureshi heard a petition filed by AGP Muhammed Akhtar Buland Rana, who had pleaded before the court to bar Dar and Farah Tarin, Controller General of Accounts (CGA), from interfering in the administrative functions of the petitioner as Cadre Head of Pakistan Audit & Accounts Group of Pakistan. During the course of proceedings, the court sought a reply from the respondents within 15 days.
Saeed Khursheed, the counsel for the petitioner, urged the court to direct the Interior Ministry to provide adequate security to his client. He told the court that all the entitled security had been removed from the petitioner''s office and residence. The court asked the Additional Attorney General (AAG) about the reasons behind the removal of entitled security of the petitioner. He replied that security could not be provided to Muhammed Akhtar Buland Rana due to country''s law and order situation. To which, the court remarked that the petitioner''s plea about security was admitted, if the government failed to provide security to him. The court adjourned the proceedings of case for an indefinite period.
