Motorcycles parked inside JPMC cause patients to suffer

Surgical Building of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) has become parking lot for the staff and visitors, as majority of them parked their motorcycles there, causing serious inconvenience to patients and their attendants.
The main surgical building of healthcare has become parking place of motorcycles, as staff and visitors have been parking their motorbikes in the building while the administration did not bother to take notice of it.
The security guards deployed in healthcare are unable to stop staff members from parking their motorcycles there.
They said dozens of motorcycles were being parked inside the surgical building on daily basis that created serious inconvenience to patients and their attendants. The rescue workers and attendants of patients were also facing great hardship in shifting of patients in different wards due to the illegal parking of motorcycles.
The JPMC administration had placed banners in different locations in main surgical building with clear instructions that owners of the bikes would be treated sternly and handed over to police for parking their motorcycles inside the building. But there warnings proved mere warning as the administration has not yet taken any practical step to stop parking of bikes in the hospital.
The sources said the administration had allocated specific parking area for staff and visiting patient vehicles but the staff preferred parking their motorcycles and cars inside or outside the departments in fear of theft from parking area. Similar practice could be seen in other departments of JPMC like eye, chest, oncology, nephrology and blood banks where the employees parked their motorcycles inside departments' building.
The illegal parking of motorcycles and cars inside or outside the departments has badly affected health delivery system in the major hospital of Karachi.
President JPMC Doctors Association Dr Javed Akhter Jamali when contacted said illegal parking of bikes inside the surgical building was causing serious incontinence to the patients. He said the administration should take strict action against the employees who parked their motorcycles inside the department's building.
He said bikes should be parked in parking area and administration should take strict action against staff members who were not following the instructions of high-ups in this regards. Executive Director JPMC Dr Tasneem Ehsan was not available for comment over the issue.
