Pakistan Army's 10 Corps, in its continued efforts to mitigate sufferings of their brethren in need, on Monday dispatched 32 trucks of relief goods for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan Agency (NWA). It is the second consignment, which contains relief items, including flour, rice, ghee, sugar, powdered milk, dates, pulses, water, coolers, clothes, crockery, biscuits, candies and juices weighing 220 tons, besides Rs 7 million in cash for distribution among the IDPs.
Commander 10 Corps Brigadier Saeed Ahmad saw off 22 and 10 trucks to Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan relief camps, respectively. Senior army officers were also present at the ceremony held at Race Course ground here. Earlier, Brigadier Saeed was briefed about the donations collected and being distributed in Bannu and D I Khan relief camps, focusing on daily-based needs, especially the essential edibles.
The relief activities are part of Army's consistent efforts to assist, rehabilitate and express solidarity with their brethren in their hour of need. The Commander was apprised that 45,000 relief assistance packages had been prepared and sent for the IDPs, keeping in view all essential requirements.
The Army has set up relief camps in Rawalpindi and Islamabad to collect donations for the IDPs. Askari Bank Limited, Mobilink Cellular Company, former managing director Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal Zammurd Khan and Murree Brewery were among the major donors providing relief goods to the displaced people. The 10 Corps set up relief assistance collection points on June 23.
The first consignment was sent on July 9, while the third one would be dispatched on August 6. Brigadier Saeed appreciated the generous response of the people exhibiting national spirit and active participation in relief activities for their distressed countrymen.
