The University of Peshawar (UoP) will establish its own testing service from the coming academic year and will conduct NTS type test for admission into the BS and MA, MSc Programmes from the current session. The expertise/services of the testing system would also be offered to other public sector universities for admissions in various programmes.
This was decided in meeting of the Heads of Teaching Departments with UoP Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan in chair. Governance and management, financial reforms and the upcoming Masters examinations were also discussed during the meeting. The VC informed that due to special austerity measures the university closed its last fiscal year with zero deficit in comparison to a deficit of 219 million rupees in the year 2012-13.
He added that some tough financial decisions were taken last year and due to support of the heads of departments the university is in a better financial position now. Dr Rasul Jan urged for strict implementation of the existing rules of the university adding that employees involved in private businesses, institutions or any other job without grant of a NOC would be dealt according the employees efficiency and discipline rules while their heads would also be held responsible for the negligence. The Director Admission on the occasion informed that 355 students have applied to the HEC scholarship, whereof data has been sent and the amount would be disbursed among them as soon as the same is received.
