Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) is doing its full efforts to provide trained manpower according to the requirement of the industry.
To promote technical education and vocational training, during the last five years, Tevta established 72 new technical and vocational institutes across the province of the Punjab, including six Colleges of Technologies at Taxila, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Sangla Hill, Kamalia and Pindi Bhattian, eight Technical Training Institutes at Bhalwal, Shorekot, Bhera, Jalalpur Pirwala, Chakwal, Chowk Sarwar Shaheed, Joharabad and Faqirwali, six Vocational Training Institutes for Women at Chakwal, Mianwali, Chowk Sarwar Shaheed, Sukheki, Rahwali and Kangun pur and fifty two Technical Training Centres at tehsil level have been set up.
A number of 18,125 new male and female students have started getting technical education and vocational training at these newly established colleges and institutes. According to the press release issued by Tevta, the spokesman of the Authority said that we have also started three months vocational training courses for the prisoners at Lahore and Multan Jails as a pilot project while the same will shortly be launched at other jails of the province of the Punjab. Vocational training courses are also being offered at selected 30 Deeni Madars and 11,534 Deeni students have got vocational training in 12 trades.
Tevta with the technical and financial assistance collaboration of China up-graded Light Engineering Service Centre at Gujranwala and Cutlery Center at Wazirabad while Leather Service Centre at Kasur, Hosiery and Finishing Training Center at Faisalabad and Woollen Center at Jhang rehabilitated.
Moreover, Metal Industries Development Centre at Sialkot, Centre for Agriculture Machinery Industries at Mian Channu and Institute of Leather Technology at Gujranwala also upgraded. GIZ, a German organisation, funded Rs 140 million for the promotion of Tunnel Farming, home appliances and solar panel training at Tevta Institutes.
