Justice Dost Muhammad Khan sworn in as KP caretaker chief minister
Former Supreme Court (SC) Justice Dost Muhammad Khan took on Wednesday oath as the caretaker chief minister of Khyber Pahtunkhawa (KP).
Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra administered the oath to Khan in a ceremony at the Governor House in Peshawar. Former KP CM Pervez Khattak also attended the ceremony among others.
Speaking to the media after the oath-taking ceremony, CM Khan assured that he will complete the mission given by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and will hold fair elections in KP.
The ECP appointed Khan as the KP caretaker CM on June 5. ECP Additional Secretary Dr Akhtar Nazeer made the announcement while addressing a press conference outside the ECP office.
Both the government and opposition failed to form a mutual consensus on the name, after which the matter had been taken to a six-member parliamentary committee. However, the committee too had been unable to reach a conclusion and the matter had been taken to the ECP.
