Several prisoners jailed for petty crimes have been released by the federal government ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. In Faisalabad, 199 prisoners were released from all three jails in the city. Jail sources said that 182 prisoners were released from District Jail, 14 from Central Jail and three inmates from Borstal Jail.
District and Sessions Court Judge Abid Hussain Qureshi paid a visit to District Jail in Kasur where he gave Eid cloth to women prisoners. He also ordered the release of 21 inmates involved in petty crimes. On other hand, a large number of prisoners, involved in different crimes, have filed petitions to be released so that they could celebrate Eid with their family members. However, their petitions are still waiting to be heard.
