The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue-1122) responded to 8,468 emergencies including several incidents of one-wheeling during Eid days all over the Punjab. Furthermore, significant increase in road traffic accidents has also been observed on Eid-ul-Fitr.
The Rescue-1122 provided emergency care to several youngsters in three days of Eid who were affected by road traffic crashes while attempting stunts on motorbikes and indulging them in dangerous acts of one-wheeling. Furthermore, DG Rescue Punjab Dr Rizwan Naseer appreciated the rescuers for discharging their duties with devotion and hard work on Eid.
These 8,468 emergencies include: 3,868 road traffic accidents, 3,284 medical emergencies, 89 fire emergencies, 279 emergencies related to crime and over 897 other emergencies.
In this regard, emergency vehicles including emergency ambulances were deployed at all major Eid prayer sites and sensitive areas along with trained emergency staff to provide immediate pre-hospital emergency cover in all districts of Punjab.
The rescuers performed special emergency duties to effectively cover large Eid prayer gatherings and provided timely emergency medical, rescue and fire-fighting services to citizens during Eid holidays. DG Rescue Punjab Dr Rizwan Naseer also thanked the citizens of Punjab, hoping they would extend their co-operation with Rescue-1122 on upcoming Independence Day.
In the wake of increasing number of road traffic crashes on Eid, Dr Rizwan Naseer directed all the District Emergency Officers (DEOs) to ensure preparation of more effective emergency cover plans to provide emergency care to the possible victims of road traffic crashes on Independence Day. He further appealed to the parents to advise their children to avoid indulging in dangerous acts of one-wheeling.
