Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervez Rashid said on Sunday that Imran Khan would be responsible in case of an incident of terrorism on August 14. Speaking to media persons in Rawalpindi after a flag-hoisting ceremony in connection with the Independence Day celebrations, Rashid said Imran Khan would have to give assurance that the march on August 14 would be a peaceful one.
He said that Imran's reported call for the resignations of PTI MNAs would lead to a mutiny within his party. He said that the leaders of Muslim League did not resort to a 'long march' to create Pakistan but instead pursued a democratic struggle.
He said Pakistan was achieved under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah through democratic, lawful and constitutional struggle. "Why didn't Imran Khan stage a march during Musharraf's regime?" he asked, claiming that those standing up against the government were supporters of Musharraf.
He said the country was making progress, which had been acknowledged by the leading world institutions including Moody's, Asian Development Bank, World Bank and Wall Street Journal.
Quoting Nielsen survey, Rashid said Pakistanis spent 800 billion rupees on this Eid, which showed that their purchasing power had increased because of economic prosperity.
The minister said the government was committed to overcoming energy shortfall. He said during one year, the PML-N government had initiated a number of coal, hydro, solar and wind power projects.
Earlier, the minister hoisted national flag as part of the Independence Day celebrations and urged the nation to hoist as many flags as they can be it their residences, offices, buildings or vehicles. PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi and other local leaders and party workers were present on the occasion.
