Awami National Party (ANP) Sindh President Senator Shahi Syed has said that his party will not support any attempt to topple a democratically-elected government through unconstitutional means. Talking to APP, he said that all political parties had street power, and if anyone conspired to dissolve the federal government, it might face the similar situation after coming into power.
He said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan should adopt legal and constitutional means, as undemocratic moves would not be in the interest of the country.
Shahi Syed said that August 14 was a day of celebrations for every Pakistani and it would be inappropriate to create disorder by showing street power in the federal capital on the day.
He said that the whole nation should demonstrate harmony on the Independence Day and celebrate the auspicious occasion in a befitting manner.
The ANP leader suggested to Imran Khan to take up his "grievances" in the parliament. If anyone had any reservations, a procedure for accountability had been laid down in the law and Constitution, which should be followed, he added.
Shahi Syed said the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was a big political force of the country and had come into power with a heavy mandate in the general election, so it had the right to complete its five-year tenure.
Imran should wait for the next general election and avoid agitation, he added.
