Preston University and Daira Islamabad organised a Literary Reference in honour of late Editor-in-Chief Nawa-e-Waqt Group, Majid Nizami here on Tuesday at the auditorium of Preston University.
Eminent among those who shed light on the life and contributions of late Majid Nizami on the occasion were Federal Minister for Commerce Engr. Khurram Dastagir Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Irfan Siddiqui, Chairman Daira Islamabad Dr Ghazanfar Mehdi and Chancellor Preston University Dr Abdul Basit.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Federal Minister for Commerce Engr. Khurram Dastagir Khan profoundly lauded Nizami's contribution towards Pakistan Movement and his strong stand that he always took for the ideology of Pakistan and the Pakistani nation at all national and international forums. He said Majid Nizami was an icon of journalism and his contribution towards promotion of positive journalism in the country has no parallel.
Other speakers also paid tribute to late Majid Nizami and said he always lucidly and boldly supported the Kashmir cause and raised voice at all national and international forums for giving the people of Kashmir the right to self-determination and profoundly condemned Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir.
They eulogised Majid Nizami's contribution towards uplifting the lives of deprived people. In their concluding remarks, the speakers emphatically stated that people like late Majid Nizami are born in centuries and the vacuum that has been created by the demise of veteran journalist and social worker late Nizami will perhaps never ever be filled.
