High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Suhrab Hussain called on Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq here on Wednesday. While talking to the High Commissioner, Speaker said considering Bangladesh as one of its brotherly country, Pakistan strongly desires to further strengthen the existing fraternal bonds through enhancing parliamentary interaction and people-to-people contact between the two countries.
The Speaker also stressed the need for enhancing Pakistan-Bangladesh trade activities. He said immense potential exists in two countries which need to be exploited for mutual benefit. The Speaker informed the High Commissioner about the establishment of Pakistan-Bangladesh Parliamentary Friendship Group in National Assembly. He asked for reciprocation of the same in Bangladesh Parliament. He was confident that parliamentarians of both the countries could add substance to the existing bilateral relations between the two countries.
Sadiq praised the Bangladesh's disaster management system due to which the disasters caused by the cyclones and floods have been reduced. He said Pakistan could take advantage of Bangladeshi disaster management expertise. He also stressed for institutionalising research activities in agriculture and fishing sectors. Bangladeshi High Commissioner said that Bangladesh also attaches importance to its relations with Pakistan and wants to strengthen them. He agreed that parliamentarians of both the countries could bring the two countries much closer through exchange of views and sharing experiences. He suggested for exchange of parliamentary, academia, students and business delegations.-PR
