On the directives of Chief Secretary, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, district administration Peshawar has carried mega crackdown on profiteers in the provincial metropolis and arrested 74 persons. According to details, Chief Secretary, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on receiving complaints from the people visited the city and after confirmation of the public complaints himself pinpointed the profiteers to the Deputy Commissioner (D.C).
After the directives of the Chief Secretary, Deputy Commissioner, Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam, Assistant Commissioner (A.C) Mumtaz Ahmad and all Additional Assistant Commissioners (AACs) rushed to their respective areas and after confirmation they conducted raids in Khyber Bazaar, Peshawar Saddar, Qissa Khwani, Haji Camp, Sethi Town, Arbab Road, University Road, Peshtakhara, Hayatabad, Kakshal, Asiya Gate, Sarki Gate, Kohati Gate, Gunj Bazaar, Phandu Road, Ring Road, Chamkani, Firdous Bazaar, Landay Sadak, Bakhshi Pul, Khazana, Charsadda Road, Kohat Road, Kotla Mohsin Khan, Nauthia, Khyber Super Market and other adjacent areas and arrested 74 profiteers. They were later presented before the Deputy Commissioner (D.C) Peshawar, who after expressing anger over directed the shifting of all profiteers to prison. He has directed the continuation of the operation against the profiteers three times a day.
