Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab President Ejaz Chaudhary warned if Punjab government used force against the PTI marchers they would retaliate and the 'Azadi March' will be held at all cost. While addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said the march against alleged rigging in last year's general elections would begin from Lahore on the Independence Day. "The party workers from 22 districts would gather at Faisal Chowk at 10am for the anti-government march," he added.
He said 800 party's registration camps in Punjab are being set up to register workers interested in taking part in the march. He also said registration of 100,000 motorcyclists is completed and they all will be part of the Azadi March from Lahore. He lamented the government for illegally impounding motorbikes and thus causing inconvenience to general public. "The affected ones can get free legal assistance from the PTI offices," he added. He told the media that brutal force or arrests will not deter the PTI workers from participating in the march. He accused the government of harassing their workers; in Punjab the police are raiding the houses of their peaceful workers and detaining them. He further said the police forcefully removed the party's camps established in 11 districts; these camps will be set up again. "We have set up legal committees throughout Punjab, which will provide legal assistance to the detained party workers," he added.
The PTI provincial leader said they have asked their party workers to hold peaceful protests outside those police stations where the PTI workers are detained. He said staging protest demonstrations, chanting slogans and delivering speeches are basic rights of each citizen of the country.
He observed that the government's high-handedness shows that the PTI's march is causing jitters in the PML-N camp. He was of the view when people like Khawja Saad Rafique, Pervaiz Rashid, Rana Mashud, Abid Sher Ali and Rana Sanaullah are 'friends' of Sharif brothers, the PML-N does not need enemies; these personalities will lead PML-N to obliteration. On the occasion, the PTI provincial chief condemned the registration of a police case against Pakistan Awami Tehreek Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri.
