After holding several meeting sessions with allies parties, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Jamaat-i-Islami in government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Awami Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan (AJIP) has fully backed the call of the PTI 'Azadi march,' and decided its party workers will take part in the PTI protest, scheduled on August 14 in Islamabad.
"Our stance is clear to hold transparent and fair elections, and constitution of independence election commission in the country, says Shahram Khan Tarakai, AJIP chairman, while announcing to participate in the PTI 'Azadi march' at a crowded press conference at Peshawar Press Club here on Thursday. He said he would lead around 75,000 to one lakh party workers, to join PTI chief Imran Khan at D-Chowk, Islamabad on August 14.
Tarakai, who is also an important member of Pervez Khattak-led provincial cabinet, as Senior Minister for Health, supported that the demand of PTI for recounting on four constituencies in Punjab, adding that situation was emerged due to non-serious attitude of PML-Nawaz led federal government in acceptance of demands of PTI regarding electoral reforms and constitution of new election commission. Even, he said, electoral reforms committee, held its first meeting just a day ago, which showing seriousness of the federal government towards resolution of the issue. We demand to the electoral reforms committee to hold meeting on daily basis.
AJIP chief said the August 14, Azadi march will be held under ambit of constitution and law, and asked the Federal government to demonstrate patient and avoid any confrontation situation during the PTI 'Azadi march'. "We are not against anyone, but we are supporting those people, who were talking about change in the system and electoral reforms, Tarakai said.
He clarified: "We talks about right and justice, and wouldn't be favoured anyone, and decision of participation was taken after formal invitation by PTI chief Imran Khan. Tarakai denied any threat to democracy and dissolving of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly in wake of the PTI 'Azadi march', as we are staunch believer of democracy, he added. He said JI and AJIP fully support Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, in its call of the protest, purposely for bringing electoral reforms and establishment of fair and transparent elections commission in the country. About PTI chief's demand to tender resignation as members of KP and National Assembly, he replied that no such plan was under consideration.
