Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) Board of Governors (BoG) has approved Rs 3.59 billion for the current financial year 2014-15 budget that include Rs 2,415 million to meet development and non-development expenditures. An official said that out of the total outlay, Rs 2,415 million had been allocated for non-development expenditure and Rs 930.165 to be spent on on-going and new development projects.
He said that the budget was approved by PARC's BOG in 37ths meeting at the PARC headquarters, which was presided over by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research (NFSR), Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan. The official said that the board also approved Rs 95.164 for Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) projects and Rs 157.547 million for Agriculture Linkage Programme (ALP). The non-development funds had included a grant of 10 per cent ad hoc relief allowance 2014 and other allowances to PARC employees, he added.
He said that PARC Chairman Dr Iftikhar Ahmad briefed the meeting about the PARC progress in 2013-14, in-house research and new innovations through technical divisions, the PSDP funded on-going and new approved projects as well as ALP funded projects and MoUs signed with national partners.
Sikandar Hayat Bosan speaking on the occasion said his ministry was continuously facilitating the PARC in developing well focused projects and expressed the hope that scientists were making serious efforts to achieve new knowledge-based technology for achieving development goals.
He expressed the hope that this year farmers would get quality seed at reasonable price adding the PARC as a new initiative, planted soybean on 400 acres that would produce a sizable quantity of seed for promoting soybean as an industrial crop. PARC Technical Members, Dr Nadeem Amjad, Member (NRD), Dr Shahid Masood, Member (NRD), Dr Muhammad Sharif, Member (SSD), Dr Shahid Rafique, Member (ASD), Zafar Hassan Raza, Member (Finance), Dr Muhammad Munir, Member (Co-ordination), Dr Munir Ahmad, Secretary PARC, Dr M Azeem Khan, DG NARC, Dr Ahmad Bux Mehar, DG (P&D), Federal Secretary, MNFSR Seerat Asghar, Dr Amir Muhammed, Founding Chairman PARC and Member of PARC BoG Abdul Majeed Nizamani from Sindh, Mir Jaffer Khan Jamali from Balochistan, Iftikhar Muhmand from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Mutabiat Shah from Gilgit also attended the meeting.
