PPP submitted a resolution and a calling attention notice in the National Assembly Secretariat on Thursday.
The resolution pays homage to Pakistan Police and resolves for better compensations for them. It is submitted by Dr Nafisa Shah, Makhdoom Syed Mustafa Mehmood, Mohammad Ayaz Soomro, Nazeer Ahmed Bughio, Mir Aamir Ali Khan Magsi, Madam Faryal Talpur, Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, Shabbir Ali Bijarani, Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Nawab Ali Wassan, Makhdoom Muhammad Amin Fahim, Syed Ameer Ali Shah Jamote, Syed Naveed Qamar, Abdul Sattar Bachani and Sardar Kamal Khan Chang.
"We the members of the 14th National Assembly resolve that the Government should declare August 4, the day Safwat Ghayur embraced Shahadat, as the National Police Day," it further stated. "The day must be celebrated every year to commemorate the services of valiant and courageous police officers like Safwat Ghayoor, Chaudhry Aslam and other police officials who sacrificed their lives while protecting citizens of Pakistan. More than 3,000 police officers have lost their lives in the fight against terrorism in the past 10 years. Both Provincial and Federal Governments should work towards a uniform system of police compensations in case they are killed in the line of duty and make all-out efforts to equip police with mechanisms for their protection so that the risk to their lives is minimised as they protect citizens' life and property," it further added.
The calling attention notice is about Nandipur Power Project, which is submitted by Dr Nafisa Shah, Ishan ur Rehman Mazari, Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani and Mrs Shahida Rehmani.
It is stated: "We would like to bring the attention of the Minister of Water and Power towards the recent reports suggesting that the Nandipur Power Project is either currently non-operational or is operating at a highly unfeasible cost of Rs 48pkwh, which is causing grave concern among the public."-PR
