Sui Southern Gas Company's (SSGC) Chairman Miftah Ismail has said that the SSGC was making all possible efforts to overcome incidents of gas theft. The SSGC chief was talking to a representative delegation of industrial associations which met him to discuss issues relating to gas supply, low gas pressure as well as to voice their concern over transferring of line losses to industries. The SSGC's Managing Director Shoaib Warsi was also present on the occasion.
Participants of the meeting said that the SSGC's chairman agreed that industrial activities cannot be increased without providing new gas connections to industries and assured the industrialists that all-out efforts were being made in this regard. All-Karachi Industrial Alliance's (AKIA), President Mian Zahid Hussain said that though the government was evincing keen interest in getting export target increased, industrial production activities were continuously suffering owing to gas shortage, low gas pressure and power crisis.
He said providing gas connections are very important for establishing new industrial units in the country. He emphasised the need for exploring new resources for gas and power to meet increasing demand of energy. Chairman Site Superhighway Association of Trade and Industry (SSATI), Javaid Ali Ghori, said that the industrialists of Superhighway industrial estate have been facing immense problems due to low gas pressure. Federal B' Area Association of Trade and Industry's Chairman Shaikh Mohammad Tahseen and North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry's Chairman Mehmood Rangoonwala said that efforts must be made to reduce line losses.
