Stranded Pakistanis in Libya: Prime Minister directs to arrange special flights for evacuation
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Thursday directed for arrangement of special flights to evacuate stranded Pakistanis from Libya. Security situation in Libya has deteriorated over the past few days and the Pakistan Embassy at Tripoli is assisting stranded Pakistanis to evacuate.
A spokesman of the PM House said the Prime Minister termed the situation for Pakistanis a humanitarian crisis and said the government would use all resources for the safe evacuation of the Pakistanis. According to Foreign Office, the Pakistan Embassy in the last few days has already facilitated evacuation of over 2,500 Pakistanis to Tunisia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is co-ordinating the efforts to facilitate evacuation of stranded Pakistanis in Libya on the directives of the Prime Minister. A Crisis Management Cell (CMC) has also been established at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to monitor the evolving security situation in Libya and to co-ordinate efforts for evacuation of Pakistani Diaspora.
