Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah asked Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government to provide the record and notification of invocation of Article 245, which had been shown by the Interior Minister on the floor of the House, to the opposition parties.
Speaking on a point of order on the floor of the National Assembly on Friday, the Opposition Leader said Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar had mentioned that Article 245 of the Constitution had been invoked 24 times during the last seven years but the record in that regard has not been provided to the opposition in this regard.
Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that the house will ask the Interior Ministry to submit the record in relation to invocation of Article 245 of the constitution displayed by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in the House. Later, the Opposition Leader told media persons outside the Parliament that it appears that Imran Khan could not postpone his 'long march' due to certain political reasons.
The PPP leader said the political parties that were trying to defuse tensions were not siding with the government. He said political parties have rendered countless sacrifices for the restoration of democracy. The PPP leader was also of the opinion that the government must allow PTI to hold its protest, adding that the crisis can be resolved if the government demonstrates some magnanimity. Responding to a question, Shah said it is not possible to implement a 'minus-one' formula in the current political crisis, adding that no party would like the exclusion of its leader from the political arena.
