The Punjab government is going to write a letter to the Canadian authorities through federal government with a view to seeking annulment of Canadian nationality of Pakistan Awami Tehreek's chief Dr Tahirul Qadri. The Punjab Law Minister also confirmed this at a press conference here Saturday. He said a letter will be sent to federal government from where it will be forwarded to the Canadian government.
He added that a copy of the letter will also be sent to the Canadian embassy in Pakistan. He said Dr Qadri, a Canadian national, is creating unrest in the country. It may be noted that the legal experts drafted the letter for cancellation of Pakistan Awami Tehreek's Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri's Canadian nationality. In the letter, the Punjab government has maintained that Tahirul Qadri has been involved in different extra-constitutional and illegal activities in the country.
Addressing a press conference, Rana slammed Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri, saying he (Qadri) wants to impose the agenda of those who are destabilising Iraq, Syria and Libya. He claimed that Dr Qadri is using women and children as a human shield while Model Town has been turned into a no-go area in Lahore. He was of the view that so-called slogans of brining revolution tantamount to abrogating the country's laws and constitution. "When no-go areas in North Waziristan were created, the military was called out to normalise the situation in the Agency," Rana said.
He termed the activists of PAT "terrorists", who he said are making innocent people hostage including policemen. Citing a report, he said over 300 policemen have been injured across the province. He said a conspiracy of causing unrest in seven cities of Punjab has been foiled. He said those coming to Lahore were carrying arms and other material to cause bloodshed.
