Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Pervaiz Rashid on Sunday announced that Pakistan would observe 'Yaum-e-Falasteen' (Palestine Day) on August 17 to show solidarity with the people of Gaza enduring the atrocities of Israel.
Addressing 'Labaik Qibla Awwal March' held under the auspices of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) here, Rasheed said that JI chief Sirajul Haq had suggested to observe August 17 as 'Yaum-e-Palestine'.
In his address, JI chief Sirajul Haq asked the political leadership to shun their difference on internal matters and focused on on-going killing of innocent Palestinians at the hand of Israel in Gaza.
He further said that three days ago he had met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and asked him to call an emergency session of Muslim countries to discuss the on-going brutal killing of innocent Palestinians in air strikes by Israeli.
He further asked the Pakistan Army that to take measure to stop murder of Muslim women and children in Gaza as it not only represent people of Pakistan but also Muslim world. "If government is not willing to intervene and help the innocent Palestinians, then it should allow Pakistani youths to go there to help them," he added. A large number of people carrying Palestinian flags participated in the rally.
