Development steps worth whooping Rs23.65 billion for the earliest possible completion of Thar Coal Project to meet the energy needs. Proposal of further Rs 13.31 billion budget for fiscal year 2014-15.
-- Start of construction work at Islam Kot with Rs672 million for Thar Coal Project. Rs795.498 million spent until June 2013. Release of further funds to the tune of Rs 115.250 million in current year. 38 percent completion of work on airport project
-- Expansion of Thatta to Thar Coal road for moving the heavy machinery from Karachi to Thar Coal site which cost Rs 12.574 million. Construction of 176km long road from Thatta to Wangoo in first phase. Construction of 134km long road from Wangoo Mor to Thar Coal field in second phase at a cost of Rs 2.32 billion
-- Approval of construction of 50 cusec drainage and waste water system with estimated cost of Rs 3.67 billion Construction of Water Carrier System from LBOD to Thar Coal Field at a cost of Rs 9 billion
-- Plan to install four RO Plants worth Rs3.851 billion in first phase to provide clean drinking water in Thar Coal Field area and installation of further 25 RO plants in second phase. Rs 1 billion have been released for the project in current year
-- Survey near completion for the project of railway track to connect Thar Coal field as well as Thatta and Badin Coal Fields to main railway line. Work starts on laying the transmission line to Thar Coal field.
-- Plan to establish five different solar power projects at Thatta, Shaheed Benazir Abad, Larkana, Sukkur and Jamshoro
-- Installation of solar streetlights in different villages and towns of Sindh and installation of solar energy systems in 140 houses of two villages - Hashim Jotaar and Umeed Jotaar
-- Project of providing solar energy to 35 schools in Nangar Parker area starting from June 2014
-- Work started on two 50MW wind energy projects as well as on project to generate power through Municipal Solid Waste
-- Implementation started on Asia's largest wind power project in Sindh with the co-operation of a Norwegian company
-- Sindh Govt plans to install two 50MW power generation plants to be run on natural gas at Jheempur Road Industrial estate Jamshoro
-- Plan to establish new run-of-river 5MW hydropower projects on Rohri Canal
-- Allocation of Rs 10 million to survey and study for establishing solar-powered desalination and pumping units in Tharparker, Sanghar and Khairpur districts
-- Allocation of Rs 18.6 million to survey and study for establishing 50 MW, 20 MW and 10 MW solar projects in the deserts of Sindh
-- Plans to initiate power projects to get 400MW electricity from wind energy, 500MW from Solar PV Technology, 100MW from Solar Thermal energy and 5 to 10MW from solid waste in near future
