Pakistan Awami Tehrik chief Allama Tahirul Qadri in his bid to topple the government on Sunday joined hands with PTI Chairman Imran Khan, saying that he would begin his "Inquilab March" on August 14 and Imran Khan would start his "Azadi March" towards Islamabad the same day.
In his lengthy televised address to thousands of participants of Youm-e-Shuhada here on Sunday evening at the Minhajul Quran Central Secretariat at Model Town, Allama Qadri called upon his followers to fight back if they were attacked by the police and supporters of Sharif brothers.
He took oath from his workers including women and children that they would remain at the Model Town for next three days and nights after which "Inquilab March" would proceed towards Islamabad. "There will be either Inquilab (revolution) or his death, there is no third option for him," he added.
He alleged that during the protracted peaceful "Inquilab", Sharif brothers might kill him. If they did so, his workers and followers should take revenge and kill the male members of the Sharif family.
He reiterated that his "Inquilab March" would be peaceful for restoration of true democracy as practiced in the United States and the Western countries, realisation of the human rights of the poor and under-privileged masses. The PAT chief said that he wanted to establish an egalitarian society based on socio-economic justice, fair-play and empowerment of the poor.
He claimed that during past seven days, more than 25,000 PAT workers had been arrested and more than 3,000 to 4,000 workers injured in clashes with police in Punjab. Hundreds of PAT workers, including women, were still missing, he added.
He said that the provincial government has illegally cordoned off entire Model Town area, and people were not being allowed to bring their food-stuff, drinking water and other eatables and medicines for the sick people.
The government even stopped the MQM leaders, who had brought some food on the orders of the MQM chief Altaf Hussain, for the participants of the Youm-e-Shuhada.
He rejected all the allegations levelled by the federal and provincial governments against him, including tax evasion, money laundering, inciting of workers against the government and other illegal activities.
The event was also attended by Pakistan Muslim League-Q leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, Awami Muslim League leader Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, Sunni Ittehad Council's Chairman Sahibzada Hamid Raza, PTI leader Mian Mahmoodur Rashid, Wahdatul Muslameen's leader Allama Amin Shaheedi, MQM leader Rashid Godial and other religious and political leaders.
In his address, PML-Q leader and former deputy prime minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi said that the era of Sharif brothers was over and his party would fully participate in the "Inquilab" and "long march" towards Islamabad.
The event was also addressed by Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Mian Mahmoodur Rashid, Allama Amin Shaheedi, MQM leader Rashid Godial.
