Commodities trade house Enerfo has launched a sugar trading subsidiary and opened offices in London, Sao Paulo and Bangkok to expand its sugar operations, a company spokesman said on Monday. The Singapore-headquartered company's expanded sugar activities will initially focus on origination, trading and supply chain services to clients globally, the spokesman said.
Singapore-based Andrew Slinger is leading the team at wholly owned subsidiary Enerfo Sugar Pte Ltd, and the London operation includes Guy Toller, head of global trading, and Desmond Monteith for institutional services. Sao Paulo-based Eduardo Rocha is responsible for Brazil and the Americas.
Slinger, Toller, Monteith and Rocha all previously worked at soft commodities trader Armajaro Trading, which was acquired by Ecom Agroindustrial Corp last year. Enerfo trades energy and agricultural commodities including soybeans, soybean meal, corn, wheat and coal. The company has had a regional interest in sugar since it launched in 2010 and is looking to globalise its sugar interests with the launch of the subsidiary.
