Political leaders have called upon Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan to adopt path of dialogue rather than holding any march. Senior PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique told reporters here on Tuesday that he was ready to resign from his National Assembly seat if Imran Khan was ready to contest against him in the by-elections.
The PML-N leader said Imran Khan was repeatedly changing his stance. "We are ready to listen to the issues of Imran through talks," he said. He also denied charges levelled by Imran against him regarding rigging in May 2013 polls by him.
Saad Rafique said Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri also changed his stances regularly, and retracted from his stand soon. "We would not allow anybody to create law & order situation for the fulfilment of their evil designs. Dr Qadri would not be allowed to move towards Islamabad," he said, adding that statements of Qadri were dangerous.
PML-N leader Marvi Memon said the government was taking measures to maintain law and order and protect lives of the people. She said PAT chief Tahirul Qadri was inciting his followers to attack police personnel, adding that as a result of his fiery statements some policemen lost their lives in attacks by Awami Tehreek workers.
She said all the issues pertaining to the electoral process should be resolved through Electoral Reforms Committee of the Parliament. Mature leadership always resolved the issues through the parliament and dialogue, she added. Marvi said the government had cautioned the people that PTI and PAT wanted to halt the process of development by creating chaos and unrest in the country.
Another PML-N leader Mohammad Pervaiz Malik said: "Dialogue is the best way to settle down all the issues. PTI must show political maturity and resolve the issues with negotiation and give positive reply to government's offer of dialogue." According to him, nation is passing through a critical phase of its history and Pak Army is rendering sacrifices for the success of its operation Zarb-e-Azb but some politicians are trying to demoralise Pak Army by creating hindrance through long march.
