Economic development of any country depends on the development of its construction industry. In Pakistan also, the construction sector can be more supportive to economic development. There is an annual shortfall of almost 300,000 houses in Pakistan at present while the backlog of 80 Million houses is in addition. The Government of Pakistan has already declared the Housing and Construction industry a green project. Almost 1 crore and 20 lakh both skilled and unskilled workers are employed in the construction industry at present.
ABAD has been working for improvements in the construction industry of Pakistan and is organising an exhibition ABAD INNTERNATIONAL EXPO 2014 in Karachi Expo Centre from 12 to 14 August 2014 which will provide opportunity to builders, developers and industries in Pakistan and overseas engaged in manufacturing products for use in construction to exchange views on investment and transfer of technology. I am confident that this exhibition will prove successful in attracting foreign investment and technical knowhow which will be useful for development of the construction industry.
