Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan is all set to begin his 'Azadi' March from the provincial capital to Islamabad today (August 14) with a renewed determination to get his demands fulfilled, including resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the formation of a political interim government. Addressing party workers at his residence here on Wednesday, Imran said they have decided to get justice at all cost.
"Monarchy of Nawaz Sharif will be overthrown and we will establish a country based on justice, merit, rule of law and true democracy and hence achieving a true independence tomorrow," he added. He made a promise with the party workers that when they reach Islamabad they will hold all corrupt people accountable. He said PTI will bring back the country's $200 billion stashed away in overseas banks and they will make Pakistan as envisioned by the Quaid-e-Azam.
While rejecting the PM's offer of a Supreme Court's commission to investigate vote rigging, the party chief asked how a commission can work in a transparent manner in the presence of Nawaz Sharif who himself is involved in poll rigging. "In the past many commission were constituted, but none delivered," he added. On the occasion, he also announced that PTI President Javed Hashmi will be with among the party workers on August 14 and that he will be very much part of the march to Islamabad.
While welcoming the Lahore High Court' decision on the 'Azadi' March, he urged the Punjab Police not to create obstacles in the path of their rally, "otherwise they will face the music." Earlier, while addressing newsmen, Imran maintained that the 'Azadi' March will be peaceful and constitutional; the Lahore High Court has only barred an 'unconstitutional march'. He said PTI's 'long march' will be the largest in the history of Pakistan, which will advance to Islamabad along with one million people. On the occasion, PTI chief announced that an independent member of National Assembly, Jamshed Dasti, and former federal minister Tasleem Nawaz Gardezi have joined PTI.
