The Businessmen Group (BMG), led by Siraj Kassim Teli has started considering names of candidate to be nominated as candidates for the President, Senior Vice President and Vice President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in coming elections.
Sources said Leader of Businessmen Group (BMG) and former president KCCI, Siraj Kasim Teli has made up his mind to nominate Iftikhar Ahmed Vohra, Mohammad Ibrahim Kasumbi, Agha Shahab Ahmed Khan as next president, senior vice president and vice president of the KCCI, respectively, for the year 2014-15. Last date of filing nomination papers for seat of office bearers is fixed as September 24, 2014, Election of President, Senior Vice President and Vice President will be held on September 27, 2014, and annual general meeting will be held on September 30, 2014.
Meanwhile all fifteen nominated candidates of BMG Siraj Kasim Teli faction have been elected unopposed as member of managing committee of the KCCI for the year 2014-15. July 16, 2014 was the last date for receiving nomination papers for 15 seats falling vacant of managing committee of the Chamber. The election committee of the Chamber received only 15 nominations against 15 seats on the date.
According to unofficial results those who are declared unopposed as member of managing committee includes Mohammad Ibrahim Kasumbi, Iftikhar Ahmed Vohra, Tanveer Ahmed Barry, Muhammad Hammad Iqbal Mandvia, Azhar Wasim Puri, Faisal Mukhtar, Muhammad Saleem, Muhammad Naeem, Khalil A. Feroz Bulbwala, Mohammad Yaseen, Abdul Samad Shaikh, Emad Elahi Shamsi, Mohammad Yaqoob Warind, Syed Muhammad Ashfaq and Arif Masood Baig. It is worth mentioning that BMG group enjoying 100 majority and there is no opposition member in 30 members of managing committee of KCCI; therefore, president senior vice president and vice president are likely to be elected unopposed.
