Pakistan Muslims League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Marvi Memon has questioned the loyalty of the leadership of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) with the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying they instead of protesting against a democratic setup should have helped rain-affected families of the province.
She visited the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) to inquire about the health of the victims of rain and rain-related incidents. During her visit to the hospital, Marvi talking to media persons said she is visiting the victims on the directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
She said the federal government would not leave people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone at the hour of need. "We, the federal government, are with you" she told the victims. On this occasion, she on behalf of the government announced Rs 0.1 million for families of the deceased while Rs 50,000 for the injured.
She said that she was sorry to see that PTI provincial government in the province was not fulfilling its responsibilities. When asked about the PTI Azadi March, Marvi said the PTI long march has badly flopped. "Instead of participating and protesting against a democratic setup, the PTI provincial government and leadership must have helped rain's victims and their families" she said, adding the PTI has no right to derail democracy.
She alleged that the PTI chief Imran Khan left the workers on roads and went to his luxurious bungalow for stay. She said that Imran Khan had ignored the constitutional manner to address his grievances including an offer by Sharif to set up a judicial commission to investigate rigging allegations.
The moves of Imran Khan are undemocratic and unconstitutional she said and added that PTI would come to sit with the government at last. Staging sit-ins and protests has now become a habit of the PTI leadership, she said. It may be mentioned here that eighteen people, including six children have been killed and 73 others sustained injuries in rain-related incidents in different areas of the provincial metropolis. Heavy rain lashed Peshawar and its suburbs and most of the casualties were caused by collapse of the buildings and walls in Lewane Baba Nauthia, Faqirabad, Wazri Bagh, Lahori Gate, Phandu, Barisko, Ladny Sarak, Dir Colony and other areas in the city.
