Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Sunday said that government has decided to constitute two separate committees to hold talks with leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) to defuse the ongoing political frenzy.
Speaking at press conference, soon after Imran Khan announced to launch a civil disobedience movement, Nisar said that the committees will have the mandate to hold meaningful talks with PTI and PAT. He said that the committees will comprise representatives of all political parties for which consultation is going on with all political parties. "Both the committees will be finalised by today (Monday) and then will be tasked to go ahead to hold work with them (PAT and PTI," he said.
He said that the government is ready to accept all the constitutional and legal demands of both the parties.
Nisar cautioned whatever Imran Khan is going to do, he will have reap it tomorrow. "If you come to power tomorrow, the opposition can launch a similar civil disobedience movement against you. What kind of precedent you want to set in the country?" he questioned.
He said civil disobedience is started in case of a foreign occupation on a country and such a move is made against the state and not the government. "This kind of step can weaken the state," he said.
The interior minister said that Imran Khan must not shed his anger on the government after being failed to gather one million people in his protest rally as he had claimed some months back.
He said that both PTI and PAT applied for holding rallies in Islamabad and agreed they will not enter Red Zone, adding law will take its course if anybody tried to enter the Red Zone. "If anybody either from PAT or PTI tried to cross the red line, the law will spring into action," he warned.
Nisar said that the Red Zone is housing important buildings and embassies of foreign countries and no one will be allowed to cross into Red Zone. "Attack on Red Zone will send a bad message across the globe about the image of Pakistan and then no one will be ready to open their embassy here", he said.
He said that Pakistan army is fighting the biggest war in history of Pakistan against the terrorists in North Waziristan Agency and this is the time to strengthen the armed forces to save the country from the scourge of militancy and extremism.
