Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Imran Khan has gained nothing through protest politics and people have also rejected this kind of politics. He said if Imran Khan wants to remain alive in politics, he will have to adopt a political approach and attitude.
He was talking to various delegations of Pakistan Muslim League-N here on Sunday. Shahbaz Sharif said that there is still time for Imran Khan to come to democracy, otherwise, he will completely lose his standing and support in politics. He said that it is never too late and Imran Khan should review his protest programme.
He said that if Imran Khan wanted to bring a change in the country, he should have started this process immediately after taking over the government in KPK in the beginning of May 2013. He said that people of KPK expected a different treatment from the rulers and the politicians than what has been meted out to them.
He said the masses never forget their sympathisers and well-wishers who help them in the time of need and the glorious success of Pakistan Muslim League-N in general elections in South Punjab is the proof of this fact. Shahbaz Sharif said that Tehrik-e-Insaf leadership has judged the mood of the people in Lahore and it is the fact that the long march of Tehreek-e-Insaf failed in Lahore and not in Islamabad as the people are angry with PTI for making Independence Day controversial.
He said that decisions are made in the parliament and not on roads in democracy. He said that PML-N government has always been in favour of dialogues to resolve political issues and he personally believes that negations are the best way to settle political disputes. He said that the future of Pakistan is linked with democracy and democratic system. The Chief Minister said that PML-N government has always upheld public interest and served the masses selflessly. He said that all out efforts have been made by PML-N leadership during last six years for the welfare and betterment of the people and this process of service will continue in future as well. Shahbaz Sharif said that PML-N government is striving for raising the living standard of people and speedy implementation of mega development projects for providing basic amenities to the citizens. He said the masses have given a heavy mandate to PML-N to steer the country of out of quagmire of problems. He said the journey of progress and development started under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will achieve its targets and Pakistan will become a great economic force. He said that people of Pakistan have given mandate to PML-N and it has also respected the mandate given to Tehreek-e-Insaf in KPK.
