The Lahore High Curt here on Tuesday sought a reply from the Punjab government by August 25 in response to a petition urging the court to direct the government to public the inquiry held by a judicial tribunal into the Model Town killings. A PTI leader, Zubair Niazi filed a petition and contended that the government put the inquiry report in the cold storage.
He said the government was deliberately avoiding the release of the report in order to protect those responsible for the killings of supporters of Pakistan Awami Tehreek. The petitioner said every citizen had a constitutional right to have access to the inquiry report. He therefore prayed to the court to direct the government to release the report.
