An event organized by the Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA) to pay homage and tribute to Professor Anita Ghulam Ali (SI). Professor Anita Ghulam Ali was a prominent and well-known name in the educational history of Pakistan. She was conferred the Sitara-e-Imtiaz for her services to the education in the country. Speakers at a condolence reference held in Karachi recently paid homage to the late educationist Anita Ghulam Ali for her services and acknowledge that her vision regarding quality education for the poor masses must be followed.
Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi pay homage to the noted educationist, who served as Sindh Minister for Education, MD Sindh Education Foundation and other designated posts to serve humanity. Speakers included General Moinuddin Haider retired, Baela Raza Jamil, Aziz Kabani, Ijaz Mirza, Dr Faiza Mirza, Dilshad Mirza, Professor Rais Alvi, Sayeeda Leghari, Rumana Hussain, Attiya Dawood and others read papers to honor the departed soul. Baela Jamil said that Anita Ghulam Ali was inclusive to the core was unique, impeccable and detail oriented. She spared no effort in ensuring professional development of her teams so that they could be invested in.
General Moinuddin Haider retired said that she dedicated her life to the promotion of education so that all, particularly the poor masses, got quality education. Aziz Kabani said that best tribute to her would be to follow her vision for the improvement of education. SEF will remember her vision to promote education and bring education standards to the dream of Professor Anita Ghulam Ali.
Amongst audience were present youth, students, political and social activists, prominent members of civil society, development workers, noted personalities from the political arena, Professor Anita's colleagues and friends. Some of the articles wrote for Anita Ghulam Ali was read by the participants.
Zubeida Dossal wrote "A friend of 50 years". She said: "Over the years we became closer because our interests and work were so similar. Our friendship grew for which I am very grateful. I feel blessed and fortunate that we had many happy working hours together as well as some friendly meetings. You were truly a woman of substance.. I'm sure in heaven too you must be working for idle you can never be! God bless you. All who knew her will miss her greatly and deeply. Many are our prayers for her as she so well deserves. Rest in peace dear friend."
Sadaf Zuberi wrote "Rainbow in my Cloud", she has passed from this world to the next. "Peacefully in her 80th year, in full control of her life and intellect. A proud Pakistani who knew and enjoyed the true value of identity, autonomy and self-determination." The greatest tribute one can pay to her is to take over where she left off, with similar passion and commitment at our command. So rightly is said: "A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again."
"Legacy Unbounded" was written by Zubaida Mustafa. "Do icons really pass away? They can't, because being iconic makes them immortal in the public collective consciousness. And it is an icon that Anita Ghulam Ali had become. What made her so outstanding was her will to take on the most powerful enemies of education in Pakistan.
