Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) said the 'sit-ins' being staged by workers of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) in Islamabad on name of 'Azadi and revolution', have been creating disturbance and turbulent situation, due to which country faces economic stagnation and impasse. QWP termed the step as unconstitutional and undemocratic.
Addressing a news conference at Press Club here on Monday, QWP district general secretary Saifullah Khan said the economic turnover had been fragile in the wake of present political tension in the country. He observed a substantial increase is witnessed in the prices of essential food basket of daily use, owing to blockade and security cordon across the country.
QWP leader held the PTI and PAT responsible for prevailing price-hike and unrest in the country. He termed the sit-ins being staged in the name of 'Azadi and Inqilab' by PTI and PAT, as an unconstitutional and undemocratic move. The Parties' workers besieged Parliament for the last 12 days, while multiplying miseries of the people in the twin cities, he added.
Saifullah said PTI and PAT wanted to derail an elected government by holding sit-ins on change, and revolution in the Islamabad. He said the PTI's demand of PM's resignation is foolish one, and unacceptable. He, however, said the dream will not come true and anti-democratic forces will not be succeeded in their nefarious mission, he added. In wake of sit-ins, he said the Political crisis has been credited billions of rupees loss to national economic and businesses in the country. He maintained the people are facing shortages of food commodities and compelled to purchase on high rates due to low stoppage of supply in prolonged blockade and closer of routes. He demanded upon the PTI and PAT to call off their protest in the best interest of people and country.
