City police on Monday claimed to have killed six alleged criminals in an encounter at Super Highway in the jurisdiction of Sohrab Goth police station. SSP Rao Anwar said the police acting on a tipoff about the presence of the alleged criminals conducted a raid at the Supper Highway. As soon the police reached near Sohrab Goth area, the criminals opened fire on the police party, however, in retaliatory fire by the law enforcers, at least six criminals were killed at the spot. Additional contingent of police was also called to the site.
SSP Anwar said the criminals were operating their activities in an organised manner for some time and they used to loot vehicles and buses. The police officer said the criminals were also involved in different criminal activities. The gangsters had allegedly looted a groom's party recently while coming to Karachi from the interior Sindh, the police added.
